This class is an almost complete overview to playing the five string banjo in the traditional folk style called Frailing or Clawhammer. It is designed for beginners with little or no background in music reading or the banjo. This is an intense eight week class that will give the student a good solid foundation in traditional style banjo playing from accompanying singing to playing classic banjo tunes. Class members will also be introduced to materials that will help them to continue to learn and a number of books with songs at their ability level. By the end of the class you should be able to play lots of traditional banjo songs and be playing on a level where they will be having a good time with their banjo and have no problem continuing their education with available publications.

You will learn:

· How to tune the banjo to several  traditional tunings

· Basic Frailing Strum and Variations

· How To Read banjo tablature

· Left Hand Techniques

     - Hammering On, Slides, Pull-offs

· How to tune and Play with other   instruments

· A number of great banjo tunes to play!

Open to students 20 years of age or older, the cost of this eight week course is $100.00 payable on or before 1/6/08.  Fill out the enrollment blank completely and send it along with a check. We encourage you to enroll as early as possible. Sending a check will reserve your spot in the course. YOUR CHECK WILL NOT BE CASHED UNTIL 1/6/08

REFUNDS: Refunds, when requested by mail, will be honored up until 1/6/08, after that no refunds or credits (for tuition or rental) will be made for any reason. We also reserve the right to cancel courses because of insufficient enrollment and completely refund tuition.

 YOU WILL NEED a good easy to play 5 String banjo. If you have any questions or problems with your banjo, please bring it in before you enroll.

 RENTALS We have a extremely limited number of banjos that are available for rent for our classes. The cost is $50.00 for the length of the course. This money may be applied to the purchase of the instrument rented as long as it is done before the course is over. The earlier you enroll the better the chance for an available banjo rental. Rentals must be reserved and paid for when you register.  Rentals after that time will be charged at $55.00. If you have any questions about rentals, please call us, or e-mail.
