Beginning folk guitar is an extremely fast paced introduction of folk guitar. It is open to adults 20 years old or older who have had little or no guitar or music background. We emphasize fun in learning and in this  course and you’ll be playing a number of folk songs, both old favorites and some new to you - before you know it. Persons who complete the eight week course will have enough knowledge of the guitar to accompany hundreds of songs for the sheer fun of it. You will learn:

· Reading Guitar Chord Charts

· Basic Chords to accompany thousands of songs

· Basic Strums in both 4/4 and 3/4 time

· Basic Fingerpicking and Flatpicking patterns

· How to change keys of a song to make it easier to play (Transposing)

· Basic use of the capo to fit your guitar to your voice

You will find this course a very thorough introduction to playing the guitar and, if you’re willing to put in the practice time you will be  amazed at what you can learn in 8 weeks.

Open to students 20 years of age or older, the cost of this 8 week course is $100.00 payable on or before 1/6/08.  Fill out the enrollment blank completely and send it along with a check. We encourage you to enroll as early as possible. Sending a check will reserve your spot in the course. YOUR CHECK WILL NOT BE CASHED UNTIL 1/6/08 

YOU WILL NEED a good easy to play six string acoustic guitar. If your guitar is an old instrument and in need of set up or new strings please bring it in for us to check out before you sign up. This is also true of many department store guitars as we have found way to many of these with playability and tuning problems. We do not accept “First Act” or similar guitars in our classes.

REFUNDS: Refunds, when requested by mail, will be honored up until 1/6/08, after that no refunds will be made for any reason. We also reserve the right to cancel courses because of insufficient enrollment and completely refund tuition.
