If you’ve been playing the guitar awhile, and you know a number of chords and a strum or two, but you think everything you play sounds the same , or you feel like you’re at a plateau and can’t get yourself up to the next level - Well, this is the course you need to jumpstart both your interest and playing abilities. This Six week crash course is a fun overview of all basic Traditional guitar folk styles, including traditional finger picking guitar, old-time country and bluegrass flatpicking and a good dose of fingerpicking country blues. The Class includes: 

• · Introduction to Reading Guitar Tablature

• · The "Carter Strum" for flatpicking Country and Bluegrass Songs

• · The "Pinch Pick" Travis fingerpicking pattern

• · Norman Blake style "Backpicking" Bluegrass Variation

• · "Travis Blues" picking Variation

• · Basic Blues chord substitutions

• · "The D Lick"

• · Bass runs

• And and much more!

By the end of this course you should have a good background of all folk, country and bluegrass styles. This is a wonderful introduction to the  variety of folk music styles. 

 Prerequisites: The beginning guitar class or knowledge of the following chords: A, Am, C, D, D7, E, F G, You should be able to tune your guitar and change chords quite easily. You should also have some understanding of traditional folk music and it’s various styles. You will need a six string acoustic guitar for this class. Open to students 20 years of age or older, the cost of this six week course is $100.00 payable on or before 3/1/08.  Fill out the enrollment blank completely and send it along with a check.
